Looking for a good home for a horse you know?
The Governor's Horse Guards accepts donations of healthy, sound geldings who are reasonably well-mannered and any color brown or black. Such donations are deductible from your Federal tax return.

Our herd consists of a healthy variety of breeds, ages, and sizes. All horses have been donated to the State of Connecticut. They come from a variety of backgrounds, including former harness racing horses, family pets, and sometimes former show horses.
All horses accepted undergo a 90 day evaluation period. During this time, the horse is introduced to our environment and evaluated for health and soundness. The horse also begins training for adaptation to distractions and is carefully introduced to being ridden in close-order drill with other horses. Our horses are under a veterinarian-approved daily routine of care which includes lots of turnout in a large group.
